Kangju Retail is part of a larger development complex comprising retail, open space and residential. On a broader scale, the park consolidates all the parts into a lifestyle community catering for living, working, recreation and exercise. Three axes intersect the building with the main spine continuing through the park to the residential. Playful sculptures and elements mark the journey through the development. On the podium IPD created a sculptural green form and a tapestry garden that connects the upper and lower level, a cascading myriad of biofilters and wetlands for treating and harvesting rainwater and stormwater. These elements of landscape design create a continuous carpet transitioning retail and office areas through gradation of greenery. Wetleand dege used a public space in the commercial hub to improve strormwater quality and protect local canalways.
